Comments from some of our parrot parents

Kandice,
Well we made it home at 9:10 pm, we were all tired and after an hour or so
of getting acquainted we hit the sheets. The baby was great on the ride
home, and that was a huge blessing because the weather was awful. When we
got home my husband put the dogs out back before we came into the house,
that has always helped them adjust to any new additions. We all went into
Sarah's room and got the baby out and loved and snuggled him. The baby went
from one person to the next happily chirping and checking them out. After
the introductions he ate a little and scoped out his cage. Then came back
out to snuggle with sarah (in one of my flannel shirts) while she read some.
At about 10:30 Sarah but the baby to bed and covered his cage, not a word
from him :). We all slept like logs, and so far he is still sleeping. Not
sure what time he usually wakes up but Sarah will uncover his cage and spend
a few minutes with him this morning before we have to leave for school. She
will give him some apple and carrots before we head out and I'll spend time
with him today while she is at school. I'll let you know who our day goes,
so far it seems like he has always been part of our family :). Thank you
sooo much for such a healthy, happy well adjusted Jenday!

Hi.

This is Natalie. I drove from Houston, TX to pick up a baby Jenday who
is already wonderful! After much thought, I have decided to name him
Wahzoo (which is my phonetic spelling for the word bird in French
"Oiseau".) He is just the sweetest thing ever and has started laying on
his back in my hand. He no longer is content with sitting on my finger;
he crawls right up to underneath my chin to cuddle.

I cannot wait until Christmas morning when my daughter gets to meet him!

Hi - I sent you an email before, but I don't think you got it. I just wanted to
update you on Sidney a Jenday Conure I purchased back in January. He is almost 1 year old and I absolutely LOVE him - he is so pretty and playful. I feel more connected to him than any other pet I've ever had. You did such a great job of raising him. I tell everyone he's the only boy I need in my life :). I love him so much here are a few pictures of him. - I have close to 400 :). He's so photogenic. Sidney is everything I ever wanted in a parrot I tell him everyday how perfect he is." - Kelli, Sidney, and the teils - Misty and Daisy

"I just wanted to update you on Tiki.  He is so sweet.  He has really eased the burden on my heart since losing Charlie.  He plays with my husbands Quaker and he just loves to be held in my hands like he is sleeping.  He has not went thru his terrible twos yet, but we are hoping for the best LOL. He is very affectionate and loves to play with my sons. I really do believe that your birds are the best.  Charlie was the greatest and we miss him, but Tiki keeps us laughing all the time.  He is like a little comedian. He will hang upside down from one foot and laugh and then swing to the other side of the cage, my hubby calls him his "little monkey".  Thank you again for all the midnight and 4 a.m. feedings so that my baby could come home. Thanks again, Carol

Kandice
I thought you may be interested in a letter I sent to a friend. Thank you so much for helping me with my Quaker Frankie, when she was sick. Yvonne

I have a story! I hope I don't bore you with it. My neighbor and landlady Kandice has an aviary. She raises various birds such as: conures, miniature parrotlets, quakers and sells them with great success. People will drive many miles to get one of her birds because she hand raises them and feeds them and her birds are so gentle and good with people and children. She bought a rescued quaker parrot by the name of Frankie. I fell in love with her and bought her from Kandice. Frankie is missing a toe because someone was mean to her. She is a good bred bird because she has a band on her leg. I bought her a very large cage with all the luxuries that I made myself and some I bought. She got cold one night and caught cold because I had poison oak last month and had to have the air on 68 at night. Kandice told me she might not make it because she was so weak and could not stand. By the advice of Kandice, I kept her in a temperature controlled tank and hand fed her every day and night for two weeks electrolytes, calcium and cereal. She is back to her normal self eating birdseed and ringing her bells in her palace of a cage. Before all this happened she had been trying to say, "I love you" for some two years now. Yesterday, I was in the bathroom getting ready and she said it 3 times. I was just so overwhelmed. She sounded like a child when she said it. It was so sweet.

Kandice,
Wow!  Mercury and Hercules arrived in wonderful shape and are adapting to their new environment quickly.  We took them home from the airport and fed them, no lack of interest in food and playing with toys.  This morning we got up, and they were ready for more food and our company.  We played with them for a while this morning, and they seem to like us
pretty well, very affectionate and interested in being with us.  I usually wear jewelry, and I can see I won't be doing that around home! I expected a little more hesitation on their part, but that's not happening.  John is just thrilled, and we're having fun getting to know
them.  They've been a little surprised when they've heard the finches or parakeets talking, but they'll adapt to that in short order.  Thought it might help you rest a little easier, knowing that this has gone so well.  We really appreciate having these little guys.

Dan and Lesa from Minnesota, waited almost six months for their beloved baby Zeus. While they waited for our little brood to hatch, Dan built this beautiful home and Lesa painted the background. Zeus even has a running water fountain to take his baths in! When Zeus was ready Mom and Dad drove down from Minnesota to take their baby home.
